Dr. Feltis grew up on a grain farm outside of Hawarden, Saskatchewan. He played most of his minor sports and graduated from high school in Kenaston, Saskatchewan. He now lives in Saskatoon with his wife and three  active kids and practices at Pinehouse Eyecare,  Stonebridge Eyecare and Brighton Eyecare.

After graduating from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Science in Anatomy and Cell Biology, he went on to study optometry at the University of Waterloo in Ontario.

Dr. Feltis takes pleasure in practicing full scope optometry, with special interests in contact lenses, children’s vision and ocular disease prevention.

Dr. Toews was born and raised on a family farm in Watrous, Saskatchewan. He attended the University of Saskatchewan for his undergraduate studies and received his Doctor of Optometry from the University of Waterloo in 2006.

He moved back to Saskatoon where he joined the practices of  Pinehouse Eyecare, Stonebridge Eyecare , Warman Eyecare and most recently Broadway Eyecare. He and his wife now have two wonderful young children.

Dr. Toews enjoys all aspects of the practice of optometry and has a special interest in children’s vision and the management of ocular disease.

Dr. David Sherin grew up in Saskatoon. He studied bioinformatics at the University of Saskatchewan before being accepted to the University of Waterloo’s Doctor of Optometry program, finishing in 2008.

After graduating, Dr. Sherin had the pleasure to practice optometry in Saskatoon for 5 years. Dr. Sherin moved to Edmonton, AB then Kelowna, BC while his wife Danielle completed her graduate studies and residency.

In 2019, Dr. Sherin returned to Saskatoon to practice with the YXE Vision Group. Areas of professional interest include ocular disease treatment and prevention, contact lens fitting, and myopia control – to slow or prevent the progression of nearsightedness.

Dr. Sherin is fluent in French and can perform eye exams in French if needed. Dr Sherin finds relaxation in cooking, eating and in travel. He likes to swim, especially in lakes and oceans. He is a novice gardener. Dr. Sherin and his wife Danielle delight in the companionship of a lovely boxer – Boson.

Dr. Amy Gerwing was born and raised in Saskatoon and completed her undergrad at the University of Saskatchewan. She received a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Pharmacology before being accepted into the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago in 2019.

After completing of her Doctor of Optometry from ICO in 2023, she returned home to start her career with YXE Vision Group. Dr. Gerwing practices primarily at Pinehouse Eyecare, Broadway Eyecare, Warman Eyecare, and Brighton Eyecare. She enjoys practicing fully scope optometry with a special interest in children’s vision, contact lenses, laser refractive surgery co-management, and ocular disease prevention.

Outside of work, Dr. Gerwing enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Dr. Natalie Poole grew up on a farm outside of Naicam, Saskatchewan.  She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Saskatchewan before enrolling in the Doctor of Optometry program at the University of Waterloo.

After completing externships in clinical sites across North America, Dr. Poole graduated with honours in 2012 and was awarded the General Proficiency Medal as well as the Medical Optics General Proficiency Award First Prize. Dr. Poole then joined the YXE Vision Group and is happy to make Saskatoon her home along with her husband, Damjan and beloved boxer, Frankie.

Dr. Poole takes pride in practicing full scope optometry with special interests in ocular disease prevention, contact lenses, and laser refractive surgery co-management. She has taught ocular disease management and skills sessions to family physicians and emergency medicine physicians in Saskatoon and also speaks with community groups regarding the importance of routine eye exams. Her latest academic endeavour is completing an Executive Master of Business Administration degree with a focus on health care leadership.

Dr. Katie Leidl received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 2010 from Iowa Wesleyan College while playing on the women’s volleyball team. She went on to achieve her Doctorate of Optometry with Honours from the University of Waterloo in 2014 while being a sports representative for her class. Being involved in different optometric volunteer programs gave Katie the opportunity to provide eye care to people in Ecuador and Malawi.

Katie grew up in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan, and started her career in Yorkton before moving to Saskatoon in 2018. She loves being able to provide personalized eye care to families.

Outside the office, Katie enjoys the outdoors, sports, and spending time with her young family.

Dr. Carisbrooke Macnab was born and raised in Saskatoon. She played competitive hockey and is an alumnus of the Flyers, Comets, AAA Stars, and spent her Grade 12 year playing junior hockey with the Okanagan Hockey Academy before graduating from Penticton Secondary School. She returned to Saskatoon and joined the University of Saskatchewan Huskies.

While at the University of Saskatchewan, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Great Distinction) in 2019 and Bachelor of Science in Toxicology (High Honours) in 2020. She was accepted to Midwestern University (Glendale) Arizona College of Optometry in 2020 and completed her Optometry degree in 2024.

During Dr. Macnab’s internships she was able to complete rotations at Art of Optik’s in Wayzata, Minnesota; Tallahassee Veterans Affairs Hospital in Florida and OMNI Atlanta in Georgia. At these sites, Dr. Macnab was able to gain invaluable experience and knowledge about full scope practice.

After graduation Dr. Macnab returned to her hometown of Saskatoon and joined YXE Vision Group in early 2025. Dr. Macnab enjoys all aspects of optometry but has special interest in ocular disease prevention and dry eye disease.

Dr. Macnab loves spending time with her family and two dogs, spending time outdoors, traveling and continues to play hockey.
